A hiatus and cake.

Today me and Khun Nuy (the nice fellow who drives my sorry license-less self  around) stopped by a cafe to get some kaffe yen (iced coffee). Now, a "luxury" of having yellow hair and a familiar name in Thailand is you look enough like "Britney Spears with the name of Lindsey Lohan, so you're twice as good." Translation: free cake. As much as I don't want to be in the same frame of reference with those broads, I'll still take the complimentary baked goods.

All this to say, while stuffing my face with butter cake I told Khun Nuy I love cake, but I don't want to be Pompui (the cute thai word for a chubby bunny). He game me the most solid philosophy I think I've ever heard. He said, "Impossible! Not to worry. As long as you enjoy cake and don't think about getting pompui, you cannot get pompui. You just have to enjoy it and nothing bad will happen. Easy. No problem for you."

Hmmm. Well. Is that how it works? You're confidence has got me contemplating my lifestyle and personal strategies Khun Nuy. If this is what positive thinking really looks like, sign me up!

So off to doing just that. Cheers to enjoying life and food and a hiatus filled with 4 whole days of 'no work Joey' and islands and the best mexican food Thailand ever tasted with a real life Mexico City native in the kitchen and a grocery bag full of junk food and white sand beaches and no alarm clocks and a cooler filled with the makings of everlasting cocktail hour. Cheers and ciao for now. xo
